Background of the Study
In recent years, public health campaigns have played a pivotal role in addressing vaccine hesitancy and promoting immunization programs in Nigeria. Potiskum Local Government in Yobe State has experienced challenges related to vaccine acceptance, particularly in rural communities, where misinformation and cultural beliefs have hindered vaccination uptake. In response, public education campaigns have been launched to provide accurate information about vaccines and encourage greater participation in vaccination programs (Sulaimon & Gambo, 2023). These campaigns include community outreach, media dissemination, and engagement with local health practitioners. However, the effectiveness of these campaigns in influencing vaccine acceptance remains under-researched. This study will investigate the impact of public education campaigns on vaccine acceptance in Potiskum Local Government, focusing on the outcomes of these campaigns and their role in overcoming barriers to vaccination.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the launch of public education campaigns aimed at increasing vaccine acceptance, the rate of immunization remains low in Potiskum Local Government, and public hesitancy toward vaccines persists. This problem is further exacerbated by widespread misinformation, distrust of health authorities, and cultural factors that discourage vaccination (Ahmed & Usman, 2024). This study seeks to examine the effectiveness of public education campaigns in improving vaccine acceptance in Potiskum and identify strategies to enhance their impact.
